OVERDRAFT PROTECTION
Save yourself the embarrassment of bouncing checks. All of our checking accounts are available for overdraft protection.
Your checking account is linked to your savings account. If an item comes in for payment from your checking account and there are not enough funds in your account to cover the debit, money is transferred automatically from your savings account to your checking. This way, you're going to avoid "bounced item" fees, and that piece of mind is a great feeling.
Another way to avoid the distress of returned items is to establish a line of credit with AMFCU. This line of credit can be attached to your checking and left there, just in case. Anytime you realize that you could use a few extra dollars in your checking account, you can transfer funds from your line of credit into your account, at your leisure, in person, by phone, live or remote, or online at our website: www.amfcu.org.
You can also make payments to this line in the same manner. It's used much like a VISA card – without the card. You have to make a minimum payment every month – you can always pay more and, as soon as you've made that payment, the funds are available for your use again, just like a VISA card. The best part is, you only have to pay interest on the amount outstanding and only for the number of days that the balance is outstanding.
Also, if you don't catch it in time, AMFCU will transfer the necessary funds to your checking account for you, in $100 increments. There is a small fee for this service, but you will not suffer returned item fees and merchant fees – a big plus. These lines are available up to $35,000.
