VISA Debit Card FAQ (frequently asked questions)

How Does My New Debit Card work?

It works like a check and an ATM card combined. When you make a purchase with the card, the money is automatically deducted from your checking account. You're paying with the available funds in you checking account without actually writing a check.

How Much Does It Cost?

There is no charge from your credit union when you use your debit card at any merchant. There is usually no charge from the merchant, however some merchants do charge a transaction fee. When you use your debit card at any ATM four or less times per month there is no credit union fee.

Do I Need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) When I Use This Card?

When you use your debit card at a merchant, either a PIN or a signature is required for your security. For your ATM transactions, a PIN is always required to access your accounts. Look for your PIN (Personal Identification Number) to arrive separately in the mail, 5 to 10 days after you've received your debit card.
